Queen Street Woollhara

 My pal and I went to explore Queen Street Woollhara today after I found the Local History Walking Tour  - Queen Street celebrating 2025 brochure and tucking it away. Very easy walk and so much history. Butchers, bonnet makers and Prime Ministers. Wonderful.

Five Dock After parking, we started starting at the Great North Road. Luckily the first shop to grab our attention was Tamborrino Pasticceria . After purchasing a Vanilla Zuccherati   and Vanilla Cannoli we continued on stopping to eat these DELICIOUS pastries.  So much choice and not expensive at all.  They must get asked A LOT about this timing of eating. Love these very specific and detailed instructions for their semifreddo cakes.  Sophia! We continued down Great North Road, slowly heading toward the water. First stop was St Alban's Church which had an ancient boom gate and a lovely set of metal swing gates. We were taking all sorts of pictures and talking loudly and then had some looks from a couple who were heading in to the service. Time to leave, but not before finding this incredible wood eagle statute outside was I think was the rector's house and also these beautiful flowers. Starting the new year with new theme, exploration. My friend Ben and I plan to explore lots of Sydney suburbs that we have never been  to and document a little of what we learned, saw and experienced. Initial guidance from Travel with Joanne  and Chat gpt!  We were going to follow a route set out by the above but ended up just wandering which was really the best way to find out about the suburb. That and talking to various locals (one who had lived there for 25 years and another, homeless, who was making the area his own for a short period of time) made our journey around this old and quirky subject interesting and evocative.  We started at the Butler Street Stairs and made our way down the slope, stopping to see into the backyards of the apartments and townhouses along the way.  We descended to Brougton Street which had terrace houses either side. Continuing further we found a community garden, op shop and coffee shop. I found a fetching red woollen hat for $1....

Liverpool

After waiting for 26 mins at Stanmore station (don't ask) we set off for Liverpool. Having arrived we found a mosaic as usual, the old school and westfield.  Lots of clocks in Liverpool Not working today. More is the pity as it was quite hot today.  Ben said this was too easy as the animals were really close together.  Liverpool college of TAFE                              Why?  Do not drink frothy beer. On the walk we saw lots of murals and this headstone for Captain Cook. Most disturbing prize goes to Liverpool history society window. Lots of murals  Whose window is this? We went in to Westfield for a sticky beak and I ordered Rainbow Unicorn not having any idea of what it was. Ben got a chocolate milkshake. It took AGES and then it was like this.  Sweet bubbles that exploded in your mouth. And Ben's straw disintegrated. They had to refund someone's money and also we saw two women ...
